The Fine Wine Importers case of Red includes some of our imported classics.
The case includes a a bottle of our classic Vin d’une Nuit, from Saint Saturnin, Red 2019. Bursting with ripe red fruits, this is a full bodied, refined wine with silky tannins. An ideal match with chacuterie and hard cheeses. Garnet red color. Fruity nose, with very ripe red fruits. The palate is ample, suave and balanced. Vin d'Une Nuit, wine to be drunk in one night, is Saint Saturnin's iconic red with a lovely blend of Grenach (30%), Syra (30%), Carignan (20%) and Cinsault (20%). Vin d'Une Nuit has been produced by Saint Saturnin for over 70 years.
A bottle of Chateau Haut Pougnan 2020, Cuvée Prestige, Bordeaux, AOC. A classic Bordeaux mix of Merlot (50%), Cabernet Sauvignon (40%) and Cabernet Franc (10%). Located between the Garonne and Dordogne rivers its limestone and gravel soils lend itself to the Merlot grape providing a rich fruity taste. Well balanced tannins with some vanillary notes after a year in oak barrels. It is a multi award winning wine, with the 2020 vintage producing an authentic and unpretentious taste of an old fashioned Bordeaux family wine. Simply delicious.
A bottle of Terra Salvatja, AOP Terrasses du Larzac, 2019. Deep violet and garnet red. The nose is complex and balanced, with spices (cinnamon), undergrowth and cherry. In the mouth it is soft and the tannins are silky. Aromas are persistent and long with notes of the local garrigue and red fruits. Pair with ragu and roast lamb.
A bottle of Les Calades, IGP Pays d’Herault Mont Baudile, is a young, easy drinking red with delicious fruity aromas. Ruby red color. Fruity nose. Supple, rounded wine. Grenache, Syrah, Carignan, Cinsault, Merlot and Mouvedre. Ideal with red meats, poultry and cheeses.
A bottle of Chateau Fonsalade, Saint Chinian 2019. This award winning wine is a fantastic example of a great St Chinian consisting of 75% Grenache and 25% Syrah. Dark fruits and spices provide a delicious well structured wine with elegant tannins. A great accompaniment to duck á l'orange, wild boar or chinese dishes.
And, saving the best until last, a bottle of Terra Autentica Rouge 2019, AOP Terrasses du Larzac. Grown on flinty limestone pebbles ‘galets roules’, perfect for heat and water retention, the stones release heat at night to obtain optimal ripeness. Grenache, Syrah, Carignan and Cinsault provide a nose of violets, red fruits and herbs of the garrigue (herbaceous, peppery and smoky tones as a result of the wild vegetation which grows in the sun scorched limestone soils of the Terrasses du Larzac). A full bodied delicious wine with dominant tannins. Pair with grilled rabbit or tuna.
